Poha / Atukula (Rice Flakes) Upma

Ingredients

250 Gms Thick Rice Flakes (Atukulu / Poha)

1 Medium Sized Onion Sliced Vertically into Small Pieces

2 Medium Sized Potatoes Cut into Small Pieces with Skin Peeled Off

6 Medium Sized Green Chillies Chopped into Small Pieces

1 Table Spoon Curry Leaves

1/2 Cup Peanuts

1/4 Tea Spoon Turmeric

1 Tea Spoon Cumin Seeds (Jeelakarra)

1 Tea Spoon Mustard Seeds (Avalu)

2 Table Spoons Chopped Coriander Leaves

6 Table Spoons Oil (Adjust to your taste)

2 Tea Spoons Sugar

1 Tea Spoon Salt

Cooking Procedure

Fry Peanuts in a Pan without Oil and peel off the skin rubbing them with palm.

Heat Oil in a Pan and add Cumin Seeds (Jeelakarra), Mustard Seeds (Avalu), Curry Leaves, Green Chillies, Onions.

Add cut Potatoes, peanuts before Onion turns golden brown and cook on low heat until Potatoes are cooked.Add Rice Flakes (Poha / Atukulu) to clean water for a dip and squeeze them to remove the water completely.

Keep wet Rice Flakes in a broad plate and mix it with salt.Add Turmeric to the cooked Potatoes in the Pan and then add Rice Flakes. Mix well and add Sugar, Coriander Leaves.Let it cook for 5 minutes on low heat before turning off the heat.

Tastes good when hot.
