Ingredients

4 or 5 medium sized tomatoes.

2 cups basmati/sona masoori rice.

2tbsp oil.

1 bay leaf.

4 cloves

2 cinnamon sticks.

4 cardamoms.

1 star anise.

4 green chillies.

1 medium sized onion,vertically sliced.

1tbsp gingergarlic paste.

1tsp garam masala.

salt to taste.

1/2cup chopped coriander leaves.

1tsp shahi jeera.

1tsp coriander powder.

Cooking Procedure

n Tomato puree:nn 1.Wash tomatoes and give small cuts on the surface and add them to boiling water or microwave for 4 to 5 min.nn 2.Take them out and now u can easyly peel their skins off.nn 3.Blend them to smooth puree by adding little water.this should make 4 cups to cook two cups of rice.nn Procedure:nn 1.In a big vessel or pressure cooker,heat oil.nn 2.Add the whole garam masala spices.(bay leaf,cloves,cinnamons,cardamoms,star anise,shahijeera).nn 3.Add onions and fry till they get brown colour.nn 4.Add green chillies,ginger garlic paste.,coriander leaves and fry them.nn 5.Add salt,coriander powder,garam masala powder and mix it.nn 6.Now add puree and cook till u can see oil drops on the surface.nn 7.Drain the soaked rice and add to it  and cook on medium heat ,covered with a lid till 80% water is absorbed and simmer it.nn 8.If u are cooking in a pressure cooker,once it comes to boil,reduce the heat and cover it and cook till 3 whistles.nn 9.Serve with boondi raita.nn 10.Instead of making puree u can use tomato puree or paste tins available in the market.n
