15-Bean mix is a nutritious blend of a variety of legumes such as northern, pinto, large lima, black eye, garbanzo, baby lima, green split pea, kidney, cranberry bean, small white, pink bean, small red, yellow split pea, lentil, navy, white kidney and black bean. When combined with rice or other grains, 15-beans becomes a complete protein source. Legume intake is associated with a lower risk of Type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Ingredients

1 Cup 15 Bean Readymade or Homemade mix

1/2 Cup Finely chopped onions

1/2 Cup Grated Carrot

5 - 6 Small Greenchillies

1 Tablespoon Chopped Ginger

1.5 Teaspoon Coriander Powder

1/2 Teaspoon Cumin Powder

1 Tablespoon Finely chopped Mint

1 Tablespoon Finely chopped Cilantro (coriander) Leaves

1 Tablespoon Finely chopped Curry leaves

Salt to Taste

Oil for Deep Frying

Cooking Procedure

n 1. Wash and soak the 15 bean mix for 4 - 5 hrs.nn 2. After soaking, wash and add greenchillies plus ginger to it and grind to a coarse paste. Add only little amount of water while grinding, if possible no water. The mixture should not be a smooth paste, it should be grainy.nn 3. To this mixture add, onions, carrot, mint, cilantro, curry leaves, coriander and cumin powder and salt. Mix well.nn 4. Heat enough oil in a kadai/ pan on medium heat.nn 5.  Vadas can be made on the palm or plastic paper (ziploc bag).nn 6. Apply very little water to the palms/ plastic paper, make a round shape with your hands running through the edges.Flatten it and make a hole in the centre.nn 7. Drop the vadas into the oil. Deep fry them in hot oil until they are golden brown.nn 8. Serve hot. It can be served  as snack with any chutney or as a side dish with rice and sambhar/ dal.nn  nn Note: You can prepare the 15 bean mix at home by combining the above mentioned legumes in equal quantities.n
