About Recipe

Barfi or burfi is one of the popular simple Indian dessert or mithai prepared out of mawa or khoya Many variations are also made by adding different flavors, colors or even the fruit extracts. Normally it is a lengthy process to prepare mawa at home, but if you already have prepared mawa or store bought one, then burfi can be done within no time. My husband has a sweet tooth and I rarely prepare sweets because he cannot resist. Even if I prepare sweets, I try to make use of minimum amount of sugar or try to make them completely sugarless by substituting with other ingredients . But for today's recipe of choco Badam Barfi, I could not avoid sugar but will definitely try it out making it sugarless in future by adding dates instead of sugar. In my chco burfi, I used 1 cup of homemade mawa and 1/2 cup of almond powder(badam powder). Mixed some coco powder in half of the mixture and made two different layers. One of simple mawa badam and other of the mixed coco powder , mawa badam. Then I gently pressed them and cut them into square shaped barfi. If you think your prepared barfi is too soft, don't worry. Eventually after cooling down, it gets hardened. Be sure to finish it within a week but I am sure , it won't take you more then 2 days to finish them. :) Half of my barfi got over the same day. :) .
