Country Chicken Curry

Ingredients

1/2 Kg Country Chicken

1 Tea Spoon Chilly Powder

1/2 Tea Spoon Salt

2 Table Spoons Coconut Powder

1 Table Spoon Poppy Seeds (Gasalu/GasaGasalu) Fried without Oil and Ground to Powder

1/4 Tea Spoon Turmeric Powder

1 Table Spoon Mint Leaves

1.5 Table Spoon Coriander Leaves

1 Tea Spoon Coriander Powder

1/2 Tea Spoon Garam Masala (Procedure Explained)

5 Table Spoons Oil

3 Green Chillies Cut Vertically into Thin Pieces

2 Medium Sized Onions Cut Vertically into Thin Pieces

Cooking Procedure

Country Chicken should be cooked with the skin, for which the fur need to be removed and Chicken burnt lightly on fire to get rid of feather stems. Apply Turmeric to the lightly burnt chicken and clean it with water. Generally this is done by the Chicken Sellers.

Add Chicken Pieces, Ginger Garlic Paste, Turmeric, Red Chilly Powder, Salt to a bowl and mix well. Let the Chicken marinate for 30 minutes.

Heat Oil in an utensil and add Onion, Green Chilly. Add Marinated Chicken once Onion turns golden brown color. Let Chicken cook for 15 minutes on low heat.

Add 3 Medium Sized Cups of Water to the Chicken and let it cook on medium heat until Chicken is well cooked. Add water if added water is insufficient.

Add Coconut Powder, Poppy Seeds (Gasalu / GasaGasalu) Powder and let it cook for 5 more minute low heat. Then add Coriander Powder, Garam Masala to the curry and cook until gravy turns thick, cook on medium to high heat of the gravy is not thick to your taste. Finally add Mint & Coriander Leaves and turn off the heat.

Procedure for Making Garam Masala : Grind 1/4 Tea Spoon, 4 Cloves, 4 Cardamoms, 2 small Cinnamon, 8 Pepper pcs, 8 Kababchini pcs to make fine Garam Masala Powder. nn  nn Considered healthy as Country Chicken contains less fat. Tastes good with Chapati, Puri, Bagara Rice, Steamed Rice.
