Bunuelos are a delicious and tasty fried mexican treat. They are popular during the holidays but are good to eat anytime of the year.

Ingredients

2 cups all purpose flour

2 tsp sugar

1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp baking powder

3 tsp melted butter

1 egg

1 tsp mexican vanilla

1/2 cup water

1/2 cup cinnamon sugar

Cooking Procedure

n n n n Combine flour, sugar, salt and baking powder in a large mixing bowl and  mix well.n n n n n n Make a well in the flour and add the melted butter, egg and vanilla. Mix well with your hand. The mixture should be crumbly. Add the water a little at a time and continue to mix with your hands for 3-5 minutes then shape into a ball. Let the dough rest for about 30 min.n n n n n n Divide the dough into 18 evenly shaped balls.n n n n n n Sprinkle some flour over the surface where you'll be rolling out the dough balls.n n n n n n Take one ball and flatten it slightly with the palm of your hand. Roll the dough out with a rolling pin. It should be pretty thin. Repeat this with the rest of the balls.n n n n n n Heat up enough oil for frying in a large skillet over medium heat. While the oil is heating up line a baking sheet with paper towels.n n n n n n Once oil is hot start frying the bunuelos one at a time. Fry on each side for about 30 seconds or until it turns a golden color.n n n n n n Transfer the bunuelos to the paper towel lined baking sheet so the oil can drain and immediately sprinkle with cinnamon sugar or powdered sugar.n n n n n n Serve and enjoy! store the rest of the bunuelos in ziploc bags or in an airtight container.n n nnn  n
